Just thinking about a couple things and jotted them down. Might add later
- Family is usually but not always there for you. Start and end there, though
- Your friend group is smaller than you think in hard times
- Men need to find their own center/frame, then the world
- The love of women is often conditional and vows can mean little
- Men are the true romantics
- Children thrive with male caregiving, denying them that should be a tort
- Introverted women are hot
- Lifting and sun >> antidepressants
- Fear of old age solitude is often female old-age fear-projection, men can thrive in solitude
- Left brain is king, until right takes over eventually
- My first (relationship) rule: solo travel is non negotiable and it's not personal
- My second (relationship) rule: no dead bedrooms ever or I'm out
- Corollary to 2nd rule: chore-play demands are a form of self-pimping barter
- Mountain forest >> beach
- Parenting is the great masculine, and human, adventure of life
- If you want to write, read a lot
- Topophilia is a real thing for some people like me
- West of the 100th meridian and east of CA is a blessed land
- Road trips, esp 1-on-1 with daughters, is zen-utopia
- North, and up, is the proper direction
- The betrayal of a male friend is worse than that of a gf
- In business, the most confident men can be dumb af...and wrong
- A woman's heart needs at least 1sq mm of softness or don't bother
- First snow is always magic
- Burn all love letters after age 60
- First sip of a Rye Old fashioned is pretty good. Third drink is a waste.
- Don't trust an ambitious, absent wife
- Curate a library, read classics, start with Greeks and the Bible
- Learn just a tiny bit about art and music
- Get as jacked as you can and don't squander your 20s in that respect
- Be kind to animals but don't make them the center of life before all else
- As a man, learn to cook. In the 21st C no one is going to cook for you
- Build wealth and then learn how to protect it over life. Latter is hard.
- I used to trust first and then let it be proved wrong. Reverse that
- Trust+honor+integrity is the "one ring" that rules them all
- A bonfire and a drink with friends near water at night is peak life
- Writing is organized, coherent thinking...more akin to breathing than not
- A feminine, kind, lovely woman that peacefully supports your mission is a breath of life
I'll add later if it makes sense...
